In the spring of 1778 he lived in whats was then called Phillipstown in then county of Albany, now called Nassau in the County of Rensselaer and enlisted for six months in Capt John Smith's Company of Militia Rangers, we secured out orders from Col Humphrey , Col Peter Van Ness. He ranged though Livingston, Marion, Claverack, Kinderhook, Nobletown + Chatham and in Livingston, Marion we took up about fify Tories and took them to Claverack sent to Albany for Com(???) to come try them. They came and after trial sent fifteen of them to jail. We served during the six months and at the end after the (???) I received a verbal dischard from my Captian-John Dickerson of the town of Bolton aforesaid in the only person living who can testify to this part of my service.

After I received my discharge I returned to Phillipstown + lived there until Jun 1780 I enlisted in Capt Elijah Bostwick's company of New Canaan in Albany Counaty then in three months levies I enlisted in Col Graham's regiment. (?) calender was Lieutenant of Capt Bostwicks company and Law(???)
